Remove Ads from Yahoo! Messenger 9 Final
I installed last days the last version of Yahoo! Messenger (9.0.0.1912). I really like and i’m also recommend it.
I’m the man who works in a minimalistic way so my first setting on my new yahoo messenger was to remove all messenger window components i didn’t use. All window components can be easily disabled from menus except one, ads.
I start wandering how can i remove that. For oldest version you can find lots of patchs and little programs who do this job with 2 clicks, but not in this case. For this new version i found here a triky thing to do. You will not disable the window component, you just block the ad server, a little funny way to deal with this problem.
So… to do that, go to your computer, c: or the drive where your windows is installed and navigate to this file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (no extension, open it with notepad or any text editor)
Next, add this line: 127.0.0.1 insider.msg.yahoo.com at the bottom of the file.
Save it and restart your Yahoo Messenger.
It’s working, right? Yes but it’s a little funny because it also blocks some another features like “last activity” or offline messages.

Daca nu mai functioneaza “offline messages” nu imi place solutia. Astept pana apare o varianta mai interesanta de a bloca reclamele.

eu am ceva pb cu mess9 asta! in primul rand transferu’ de fisiere nu este destul de bun…pot primi dar cand sa trimit (o melodie sau ceva) nu ma lasa sa trimit, imi intrerupe transferul si imi zice ca o problema a intervenit. si nu trimit fisiere imense ci..pana in 10MB.
a 2a pb este ca nu ma descurc de lok ku hyperim pe mess 9. asta pate ca nu stiu eu mai multe detalii insa prima problema este de la versiunea 9 pt ca in cazul versiunii 8 de ex merge.
daca aveti vreo idee cu privire la solutionare… :)

A mers, numai ca eu nu am avut un fisier hosts acolo, asa ca am facut unul fara extensie si am pus linia pe care ai scris-o mai sus si a functionat. Multumesc!
It worked, i didn’t had hosts file in the path you suggested, so i made a empty file without extension and pasted the code you wrote above and it worked. Thanks!

It works. The ad window goes away completely. The offline messages are still received (you might want to edit your article and remove that affirmation). I don’t know about the plugins, as I don’t use them at all.

It also blocks the chat room feature, no chat room is available. So if you vist chat romm its worthless.

Buna tuturor! Noul messenger nu merge patchuit, iar metoda cu mesaje offline care nu se vad nu imi place. Am un site cu downloaduri http://baiamare.myftp.org/downloads.php?cat_id=13 . Aici gasesti vechiul yahoo messenger 9.0.0.922 cu un patch care a functionat 100%. Noroc!
